With the transfer window due to slam shut for permanent signings on Thursday, Leeds are still expected to add to their ranks and are being linked with several names.

Albert Adomah

A fairly unlikely one to start with given he’s still very much in Aston Villa’s plans, but there’s been some noise surrounding a potential move for Albert Adomah. The hugely experienced 30-year-old winger has netted 100 goals in 564 appearances across all clubs so it’s easy to see why he’d be part of any Championship club’s thinking. For the same reason however, it’s difficult to see why Villa would want to part with him.

Marcus Maddison

In typical Peterborough fashion, the club has been very open about Maddison’s availability, agreeing to transfer list him after they failed to make promotion last season.

The 24-year-old left-footed winger has no shortage of suitors having netted 42 goals in the last four seasons for Peterborough while also ranking amongst the highest assist-makers in the country. Rumours of a £2.5m fee sound reasonable enough, but with WBA and Derby County also in the chase, this is by no means a sure thing. Still, he’d be a good fit for Leeds, offering strong competition down the left-side.

Jerry Mbakogu

A strange one this. Leeds were known to be chasing Mbakogu earlier in the window but after failing to agree a fee with Carpi, The Whites turned their attention elsewhere. Fast forward a few weeks and with no deal agreed, Carpi have decided to release Mbakogu on a free. We don’t know if this has brought Leeds back to the table, but it’s bound to have caught the club’s attention and we are short of cover up front.

Moussa Konaté

Almost certainly nonsense, but a story in French newspaper L’Equipe claims Leeds and Brentford are looking at Senegalese striker/winger Moussa Konaté, While that’s not unusual in itself, they claim the fee is £13.5m, which seems really unlikely for both Leeds and the usually frugal Brentford. Mind, stranger things have happened – Leeds for example are currently managed by a former Argentina boss Poch and Pep rave about.

George Saville

While I’m not sure it’s the best idea to have someone called Saville wearing a Leeds shirt, the Daily Mail claim we’re in for Millwall’s George Saville. The 25-year-old central midfielder would fill the void left by Ronaldo Vieira, but with rumoured competition from Villa, this is another one that might not go in our favour.

Oliver Norwood

I’m not sure how much faith to put in this one because it’s a rumour that seems to have come about through Sky Bet. Oliver Norwood is currently evens to join Leeds before the close of the window and 1/2 to leave Brighton.

Other names

I left out Matthew Pennington and Lukas Nmecha as both would be loan deals and don’t need to complete before Thursday.

Everton’s Muhamed Besic (who was on loan at Boro last season) is another name doing the rounds and a player who’d give competition to Kalvin Phillips in the DM position, but he’s an expensive deal to make and also linked with a cash-rich Boro side who’ve received over £40m in transfer fees this window.

Finally, former Sheffield Wednesday player Sean Clare is linked with ourselves, Fulham and Swansea City. The youngster rejected an extended deal with Wednesday at the end of last season and is available on a free transfer.
