Sam ByramSam Byram has withdrawn from the England U20 team due to injury.

The 19-year old Leeds United ace was hoping to make his international début during the tournament in Turkey later this month, but has withdrawn from the side with a recurrence of a hip injury picked up last season.

Leeds United will assess the extent of his injury later today.

Byram was The Whites stand-out player last season, cleaning up at the end-of-season awards and winning the Yorkshire Evening Post’s player of the year poll with 99% of the vote, making him the youngest ever winner of the award.

After an impressive début season, Byram has been linked with moves to a host of Premier League clubs including 2012 Champions, Manchester City.

Gutted for him, day before they leave for the World Cup and he’s out, what an anti climax for him after all that work. Hopefully it’s nothing serious at any rate. On the other hand if that cools off interest in him even a little bit then I’m all for that!

Maybe I’m a bit cynicle but Byrams’ England absense is exactly what I would want if I was going to sell him for 8 £mill or whatever in a few weeks. Could it be he has signed sealed and almost been delivered to a Prem team? Or maybe he is just injured! I’ll give GFH the benefit of the doubt lol. MOT

Haha. I saw someone on Twitter celebrating his injury because it meant he couldn’t pass a medical with another club and would, therefore, have to stay at Elland Road. Odd bunch us Leeds fans.

Strange logic that. We sold an injured Howson easily enough. Think with a fully fit Howson and Clayton in our side last season(Had we kept them) we would of done much better lol

Ah well. Numpties like selling our best players.
