New Partnership Has Speculators In Frenzy TimPM June 27, 2012 Leeds United Leeds have today announced a five-year partnership with Levy Restaurants, part of the Compass Group. Levy Restaurants will deliver catering for the club from October 2012 on. It’s a fairly uninteresting announcement on the face of it. Nevertheless, any news from Leeds at the moment results in frenzied speculation over the internet. Levy Restaurants’ UK arm also caters for Chelsea, Reading, Cardiff, Goodwood, The O2 in London, and York’s National Railway Museum. More interesting is its two links to bidders rumoured to be interested earlier. During the initial frenzy of speculation, some fans guessed the Chicagoan-based group said by YEP to be interested in the club could be headed by the Chicago Cubs’ owners, the Ricketts family. One of Levy Restaurants’ clients is Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs. This is almost definitely a coincidence. There are after all plenty of other places Levy Restaurants cater for. Most interesting, is another link is Compass Group North America’s purhcase of a 49% share of AEG Facilities (a part of AEG) in November 2011. AEG was also strongly linked with Leeds when the rumours of a Chicagoan based U.S. group first broke. We should probably heed LUST’s plea to fans not to get too frenzied, but we need something to speculate about while things get completed and I couldn’t resist stirring the pot!
