Promising young centre-back Tom Lees has signed a new contract to 2016. Lees signed a new contract last summer, but has impressed in 45 appearances at the heart of the Whites defence. His new contract will see him gain parity with others in the squad.

Lees is held in high regard by Neil Warnock, with the gaffer admitting in March:

I don’t really want him to have publicity like that, but when I was at Sheffield I’d got a young lad called Jagielka. They are very similar; Tom’s probably (even) a little bit quicker than Jags. He’s a very promising young man and to get in the team at this stage of his career and get games under his belt can only serve him well.

I don’t want him to change his game. I think he’s probably been a shining light since I’ve been here.

I don’t think he’d put a foot wrong. His game has improved, as has the intelligence in his game. He’s taken on board what I want from him.

Meanwhile, former Yorkshire and England skipper Michael Vaughan has tweeted:

Playing golf with the next Leeds United keeper today… Paddy Kenny… He hasn’t announced it yet but it won’t be long… Loves Warnock..

Kenny has been widely linked with Leeds along with a string of other QPR players. QPR are rumoured to be searching for a top class keeper, but won’t let Kenny leave unless one is signed.
