It was fairly quiet on the loan front this weekend. Fede Bessone put in an average shift in Charlton’s 3-2 win against promotion rivals Peterborough, picking up a booking and being substituted after 63 minutes. There seems to be questions surrounding his match fitness and defensive capabilities amongst some Charlton fans.

Aidy White played ninety minutes in Oldham’s goalless draw away to Huddersfield. He was lucky to escape caution after a ferocious challenge on Huddersfield’s Alan Lee.

Tom Lees recently picked up Bury’s player of the month award for January. Voted for by the management and sponsored by a local jeweller, Lees was presented with a new watch for his recent performances. Unfortunately the weekend’s game didn’t go quite as well for the youngster, being forced off after fifteen minutes after a nasty clash of heads. Bury went on to lose to relegation threatened Stockport.

I wonder how Lees compares to Alex Bruce? If it turns out Lees is the better player (once we’ve seen them both play at a similar level) I’d be seriously concerned as to why we brought in someone else when we had a homegrown lad capable of stepping up all along.

Still, needs games so a loan spell can’t be a bad thing.

Comment from my Oldham seasoin ticket holder workmate was that Aidy was rank unlucky not to score. One shot was palmed away full stretch by the Huddersfield keeper and moments later he beat the keeper only for his shot to be hacked off the line. They are VERY impressed with him.

Having been taken on tour in the summer and with Naylor finishing last season so poorly I have to say that I wondered whether Lees might break into the team this year.

It is a big jump though and the period at Bury can’t do his chances any harm.

lees is not ready for this level of football yet, so that isnt the question its why we didnt bring in a better player than both

we are short at the back at the moment so he will be able to make the squad next season if we are still in it (laughs)

Who gives a flying f**k about Bessone. Charlton fans worried about his ‘defensive capabilities’, they should be!

To Rocky….. on Lees. So why throw woodgate, smith, mcphail, kewell, milner, Delph et all straight into the Lions den and not Lees ???

Thats crap about players not being ready for a certain level. If their good enough their good enough. Its about psychology so if your boss is scared of trying you out then your going to lose confidence in yourself….
