Somma to Swansea City rumour denied by Leeds United TSS December 6, 2010 Leeds United 10 Comments Somma and Becchio Leeds United have denied rumours that Davide Somma has joined Swansea City on loan. The rumour seemed to originate on Twitter late Saturday night, but has since snowballed and been given an element of believability by the South African Times website picking up on it. Yorkshire Radio presented Thom Kirwin was first to dismiss the rumour as a ‘load of rubbish’ on his Twitter account, before we contacted Leeds United who also denied the rumour. Somma recently made his debut for the South African international side after scoring 9 times in 14 games. However, his impressive start to the season didn’t keep him in the Leeds United team and an impressive run of form from Luciano Becchio combined with the return of McCormack and Paynter has left him short on chances. UPDATE: After The Scratching Shed contacted Leeds United and published this article, the club released a statement on their official site dismissing the rumours. The big news organisations such as Sky Sports, then covered the news too, lagging way behind The Scratching Shed. We don’t get to gloat often, so will revel in this appropriately.
