Team news

Simon Grayson is still missing several key players, most notably in defence where Ben Parker and Patrick Kisnorbo remain out with long term injuries. Leeds United are also missing first choice keeper, Kasper Schmeichel as well as back-up keeper Shane Higgs. Also added to the injury list, courtesy of a dirty Middlesbrough side on Saturday are midfielders Amdy Faye and Sanchez Watt who both missed training on Monday. Billy Paynter is believed to be approaching full fitness, but with Luciano Becchio and Davide Somma firing on all cylinders he’s unlikely to start even if declared match fit.

Meanwhile, the new Leicester City manager Sven Goren Eriksson has very few injury concerns heading into tonight’s clash, with long-term absentee Dany N’Guessan the only notable player unavailable for selection.

Stats – Leeds United

Last five games: D-W-L-L-W
Current league position: 9th
Leading goalscorer: Davide Somma (6)

Leeds’ record at home so far this season stands at three wins and two defeats. Leeds have managed an average of 2.2 goals per game at Elland Road making them the third highest scoring Championship side on home soil. Unfortunately, Leeds have also conceded an average of 2 goals per game (six of which came against Preston it should be pointed out), making them the team with the 23rd worst home defensive record in the Championship.

Stats – Leicester City

Last five games: W-L-L-W-D
Current league position: 22nd
Leading goalscorer: Andy King (5)

Currently in the relegation zone, Leicester City have the worst defensive record away from home of any Championship team so far this season with an average of 3.40 goals conceded each game. Sven Goren Eriksson’s primary concern at the moment must be the defence and he’ll be looking to improve on that at Elland Road.

Head-to-head

Overall, Leeds United have the edge with 45 wins to Leicester’s 38. However, recent form shows Leicester have the upper hand with 3 wins and 3 draws since the last time Leeds United beat them.

The last game between these two sides was earlier this season when Leicester knocked Leeds United out of the League Cup with a 2-1 victory at Elland Road.

Odds/Predictions

The bookies have Leeds United as favourites for this one with odds around the evens mark. Leicester meanwhile are around 5/2 for the win.

With two extremely fragile defences, Leeds coming off the back of a good win at Middlesbrough and the Leicester players keen to impress their new manager I’d avoid putting any money on this one! If I was going to put any money on, I’d probably bet on the amount of goals scored (more than 5 for example) rather than an eventual winner; Leicester’s league position disguises what is a pretty strong team who are more than capable of turning Leeds over.
