Born in Leeds, Aidan White joined the Thorp Arch Academy in 2002, coming through the ranks to sign his first professional contract in 2008 at the age of 16.
White made his debut for the club the same year appearing in a League Cup match against Crystal Palace in August 2008 earning a standing ovation from the Leeds United fans following his substitution. He was also given considerable praise from manager, Gary McAllister.
Injury problems towards the end of the campaign meant White finished the 2008/09 season with only 9 appearances to his name, but he was already being touted as ‘one for the future’ by the Elland Road faithful. White was also named runner-up for the club’s Young Player of the Year Award.
After recovering from his injury, White returned to the squad for the promotion winning 2009-10 campaign. Once again White had a season blighted by injuries, but the youngster did manage a total of 15 appearances and was named the club’s Young Player of the Year.
2010-11 and as Leeds looked to establish themselves as a Championship team once again, young Aidy White was finding first team appearances hard to come by and was sent out on loan to Oldham where former team mate Paul Dickov was now in charge.
White became an instant hit with Oldham fans, scoring four times in 24 appearances. On his return to Elland Road, White told how the loan spell had only raised his desire to play first team football for Leeds and that regular appearances seemed to have cured the recurring injury problem he’d been having with cramps.
