Ludicrously rich Saudi linked with Leeds United investment deal TSS September 25, 2013 Leeds United 22 Comments Investment rumours are often more interesting than anything else happening at Elland Road, so there’s no surprise to see another one dominating talk amongst fans. This time, Prince Khaled bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, a member of the ludicrously rich Saudi royal family. is said to be interested in acquiring a stake in the club. The rumour comes via a Saudi journalist’s Twitter account who claims to be quoting the regional press. While it all sounds very encouraging, I’ve yet to see a direct translation of the original article and these types of rumour tend to pop up 2-3 times per year so we shouldn’t get too carried away until someone confirms the interest. Elsewhere, Hisham Alrayes has resigned from the board of Leeds United and the club’s parent company Leeds City Holdings. GFH Capital have told Phil Hay that there’s “nothing sinister” involved in the change and that Alrayes has simply moved onto other projects. Shaun Harvey has also left Leeds United to start his new role with the Football League.
