Bremner lifting the FA Cup (1972)

Bremner lifting the FA Cup (1972)

For the second year running, Prostate Cancer UK are the official charity of the Football League and have asked The Scratching Shed to take part in a promotional campaign which aims to crown the greatest ever Football League captain.

Representing Leeds United, the choice was a pretty simple one. Despite an impressive list of inspirational figures which includes the likes of Gordon Strachan and Lucas Radebe, no one comes close to the legacy Billy Bremner left behind.

Reading this, you’re probably a Leeds United fan so need little convincing of Billy Bremner’s genius – it’s hard-coded into your DNA. But if the rest of the Football League are to accept no man was greater, The Scratching Shed needs your vote.

To vote, click the following link to read my piece on Billy Bremner, then fill in the short form on the right-hand side to cast your vote.

VOTE FOR BILLY BREMNER

Prostate Cancer UK

Prostate cancer, a condition which only effects men, kills one person every hour in the United Kingdom.

Men have a 1 in 8 chance of falling victim to the disease over the course of their lifetime, odds which increase significantly with age.

Thankfully, the good people at Prostate Cancer UK are fighting back. Working to raise funding for vital research, provide support to those effected by the disease and to raise awareness across the country, Prostate Cancer UK are at the forefront of the fight.

Prostate cancer is the most common cause of cancer for men in the UK. Visit Prostate Cancer UK’s website for more information.

Videos of Billy show you the tenacious spirit that epitomised his game. Fantastically skilful too. Let’s hope he wins.

My vote has been cast. There is only one player to vote for. It’s for a guy with red fuzzy hair and a black and blue body.
