Clint HillNeil Warnock looks set to continue his recruitment of former players with a move for Clint Hill being reported by Sky Sports.

34 year old Hill has being a regular under Harry Redknapp, but the Queen’s Park Rangers manager is willing to listen to offers since the full-back has only six months remaining on his contract and isn’t getting any younger.

If Neil Warnock’s approach is successful, it’ll be the third time the Leeds United manager has signed Clint Hill in the last five years. After first joining Warnock at Crystal Palace for an undisclosed fee in 2008, Hill later followed Warnock to QPR on a free transfer in 2010.

Hill’s age means he comes with a wealth of experience. Since turning professional in 1997, Hill has made almost 500 appearances, the majority of which have been in the second tier.

Elsewhere, Zac Thompson has extended his loan spell with Bury until the end of the season while Glasgow Celtic have denied reports that they’re preparing a bid for Tom Lees.

Would you like to see Leeds sign Clint Hill?

  • Too old now, was really exposed for pace vs Liverpool. Players are fast in the Championship too.

  • Jon

Lack of pace in our defence is the biggest problem, don’t add to it Whats going to happen to all these old players when Neil’s gone?

    • TSS

I assume they’ll continue to follow him? There must be a VIP retirement home somewhere in Cornwall?

  • Ron

I wouldn’t have a problem for a loan deal until the summer, but Warnock is likely to give his old mate a 3 year deal or something ridiculous. This is classic transfer window scrapping by a man WITHOUT money to spend.

  • angsta

It would be nice to see us linked with someone who might add some creativity or a bit of pace, just sayin…

  • Lufc1979ish

If he signs any more oldies they might have to install an emergency help cord in the home changing rooms.

    • Matthew

Lol. I saw those in my local hospital the last time I required surgery, nurses and doctors rush like you’ve just died when one is pulled.

  • peter chadburn

Hill has been superb for QPR and yes he got caught by Saurez and no longer can hack it at Left back but as a Centre Back has been immense and a leader and Captain. Central Defence was always an issue for QPR but despite all the money spent Hill is still worth his place. I hope he doesn’t go. But if Harry was able to bring in top class defenders then he would do a great Job for Leeds. When the going gets tough Hill will be getting stuck in.

    • Matthew

He could still do a job in the Championship, but don’t play him every game, give him his chances to prove himself, if he does keep playing him, if his form fades bench him and put him in reserve matches till it returns.

If Warnock can get him cheap enough, sign him up. Not worth anywhere close to 15 grand a week though at his age..

  • Hill is a rock. I don’t know who you have in at the moment, but Hill is a rock. Has formed a brilliant CB partnership with Nelsen. Bullied Torres for 90 minutes against Chelscum. He is slow but will lay his body on the line and will battle until the very end. Speed doesn’t seem to trouble him, he kept Lukaku in his pocket twice in the last 2 games. He got exposed against Liverpool but it wasn’t as much the pace, as Suarez being fantastic.

  • Lol at these mug leeds fans thinking they are too good for Clint Hill.

    • TSS

I don’t think anyone suggested we’re too good for Clint Hill, but there is growing concern about the age of Warnock’s signings and targets thus far.

    • JDC

A lot of mugs think they know Leeds fans and you’re clearly one of them … and clearly you don’t. Most of us acknowledge that Clint Hill has been, and still is a good defender but, he is 34 years of age, coming to the end of his career and the majority of us are probably looking for some sign of intent from our new owners that they have the same goals as the rest of us … probably by signing someone with a bit more mileage on the clock.
If he was to sign to the end of the season , allowing Alan Tate to return to Swansea I’m sure he would be more than welcome … any longer than that, no thank you.

    • Matthew

To be fair, we just want a decent defender.

  • Dave221982

I’ve said it times many the players we are looking lack the ambition to move forward, Hill is a really good player but his pace will be his downfall in a faster paced league and if we did push for promotion people like hill will be looking for the retirement plan leaving Leeds again with a hole to fill what’s the point?

  • Dave24

His 34 not 94 if Warnock wants him he can do a job look at giggs scholes lampard am not saying hill is of there class but they dont struggle in the prem to many moaners on these forums

  • NottsWhite

Rumours are that next year our shirts will be sponsored by an orthopedic stocking company and Elland Road will be renamed as Steradent Stadium. Sky sports “sources” are reporting that he will be offered a long term contract. Unless he has that Benjamin button disease signing a 34 year old for anything more than this season is a bad idea

  • henrymouni

Just what we need – another slow defender!

  • praglufc

    John McClelland anyone?

  • igiveup

All I want is for someone to smack MIck Jones in the mouth to stop him bleating on about Becchio & Byram, the f**king retard

    • pete58

I visited my mother yesterday, she used a word to describe Mick Jones, that i wouldn’t have thought a 79 year old women would be familiar with. MOT.

      • henrymouni

        Was it ‘Hot’ Pete?

        • pete58

it was a tad more gynecological than that.

      • Stewart Heasman

Really, I wonder if it was the same word I used, if so your mother has a broad mind !!!!! and she is right………

        • pete58

she does it seems, have a surprisingly broad mind!

    • Matthew

Excuse my language but simply put, GFH Capital can fuck off if they sell Becchio. Why on earth would you sell your inform striker if you want Promotion? What sense does that make? If he leaves they’re no different to Ken Bates and should be treated as such.

Would back GFH out calls personally if they sell him and Byram.

  • Michael Lazarou

Wright Phillips is heading for leeds according to rumours and h rednap is willing to sell him to us if leeds stump up the fee Harry wants, lets hope it’s true and leeds cough up

  • Atlanta Whites

Hill instead of Tate on a 1 or 2 year deal, yes. He’s solid and him and Kenny know each other’s game. Wouldn’t object to us nabbing Derry to replace Brown either. Both signings contingent on young players around them – Hill passing on his experience/leadership to Lees/Pearce; Derry doing the same with Dawson (look at how Diouf has helped bring on Byram). Neither are this mythical Strachan/Collins figure, but who would be?
