A Max Gradel goal was all that separated Rochdale and Leeds United in another drab pre-season friendly encounter.

Simon Grayson once again made good use of the players available making nine changes throughout the course of the fixture.

There was more injury concerns too for Whites fans with Patrick Kisnorbo, Robert Snodgrass and Lloyd Sam all absent. It appears they were rested mainly as a precautionary measure after picking up minor knocks against Motherwell last Saturday, but with Luciano Becchio and Davide Somma already set to miss the start of the campaign, Leeds fans have some cause for concern.

Worried fans will doubtless point to the secrecy surrounding Davide Somma’s injury (which the striker leaked on Twitter) as reason enough to be sceptical of any injury news coming from the club. There was no explanation given for Somma’s absence from the recent trip to Scotland and it was only when Whites fans saw him on crutches in Leeds we really knew he had problems.

The only other news to come from the game was the three trialists Leeds United played. Alongside former Aston Villa players Isaiah Osbourne and JLloyd Samuel, Leeds United also fielded a mysterious French midfielder who they refused to name – following an investigation amongst Whites fans on Twitter, we’re pretty sure it was Alexandre Mendy. So, a pretty uneventful encounter overall but Leeds United continue their pre-season form with three wins from three.

IF IT IS ALEX MENDY HE LOOKS GOOD EVEN FROM THE EDITED CLIPS , HE WOULD BE WORTH GRAYSON HAVING A LOOK , HES VERY RANGY AND LOOKS LIKE HE HAS STAR POTENTIAL ! I WOULD SAY IF WE DO SIGN HIM , HE WOULD BE A DIRECT REPLACEMENT FOR GRADEL , AS HE PLAYS ON THE WING AND UPFRONT AS A STRIKER .
p.s sorry about the caps lock , didnt notice till i finished typing but cant be arsed to change it all

    • Craig

Surely if he plays on the right he’d be covering Snoddy’s position?

Some good trialists on show this game, including a mildly decent defensive midfielder who is currently unattached to any club.

If we sign these, it will go a little ways to make me have faith we can go up this season.

  • saltburnwhite

Like wiki’s personal life profile on mendy…sounds like just the type of player kb & grayson sign …..monkeys!

    Personal life

Alexandre is the older brother of Vincent Mendy a defensive midfielder currently with FK SIAD Most. He was separated from his parents at an early age when a rainforest exploration went horribly wrong. He was forced to fend for himself and it is believed that he was raised by a strange species, KBEES.

      Clearly been WACCOE’d lol.

I think the obvious lack of naming is to avoid any clubs hijacking any deal that may be put on the table.

  • Tyler75

Jlloyd Samuel would be a very useful addition to the squad – no idea about Osborne. As for the mystery French winger. He’s probably a waiter at one of Bates regular haunts in Monaco and impressed with the way he salalomed between the tables, Uncle Ken offered him a trial with the Leeds in lieu of a tip – on the understanding he paid his own air fare obviously !

    • michael horspool

agree about LLoyd samuel good experience and must be a better option than our current full backs (which i believe he is) also good player on sega football manager and that is always a good judge in my opionion. Also heard the french man is un-named as no one knows who he is. i believe from a very reliable source that Tyler75 was right. he is a french waiter who Ken Bates offered a trial to in exchange for free desert. we all know ken is not on to turn down a freebie. Next week expect local lad from mcdonalds drive through who gave Mr Bates a mcflurry and two yes two packs of cheese dips and a scouser who washed his car for three weeks for nothing

Might need the trialist – Daily Fail claims Gradel has asked for a transfer …. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2016622/Max-Gradel-wants-leave-Leeds-United.html

  • Bubionwhite

Looks like Simon is trying to become the next Arsene Wenger … Wenger manages to find an unknown Frenchman, or two and turns them into top class players he’s deemed to be a genius. If SG unearths one he must be a monkey because he doesn’t cost anything? If the clips are anything to go by, he’s better than BJ or NK by a mile and I couldn’t care less if he was a waiter in Monaco … sign him and who knows, we have nothing to lose … except Max if the Daily Fail’s correct.

  • Roger De Corsey

    some good trialists????
    grayson is the new wenger????
    pre season joy????????????
    j lloyd samuel brings experience????

ive heard of positive thinking but this delusion is on a geordie scale

    • michael horspool

yeah sorry, good experience was my comment and a bit on the postive side i know, it just felt nicer to type than. samuel must be better than parker who has been cut open more than the cop in resivor dogs and looks s**t at best and our other left backs who include adi white who looks set to be a out and out winger and the other drips. so that changes to good experience. and i think what the other fella meant by the new wenger is they both give s**t interviews? also can mr sracthing shed please put up a new post called

WHY DO WE STILL NOT HAVE A NEW KEEPER WHEN RUCKBA LOOKS AS RUSTY AS A DOOR KNOB FROM THE TITANIC

  • steve underwood

If its true about gradel then get shot of him now, nunez is good enough if not better than mad max.Has for the french guy playing on the right this does not mean he will replace snoddy dont forget he is left footed so he will just play on the left.I think samuel could be a good player to get same as osborne, cant help thinking we are trying to be more compact, and it sounds like the turner twins look like they will play big part this season along with lees,i would prefer players comming through than expensive flops

  • Rachukba has already made more clean sheets than Kasper :D hah.

But yea I agree with the comment before Its good to see young lads coming through now and so what If we haven’t spent any money… our defence is already better than last season we’ve got a better player in brown than we did in Kilkenny and Nunez wil be better than BJ any day :) just a shame about the strikers getting injured.

    Chill your beans!

  • Whitey

“He has agreed terms with Leeds United and signs on a 2 year deal”.

Why the hell does it say this on mendy’s wiki page? or have i missed something?

    • MRM

It doesn’t any more, and Wikipedia have a comment in the history that it was removed as it was “identified as vandalism to last revision”

  • Matthew

Probably likely the new Keeper is Stockdale on loan if Fulham let him come. Grayson wants him anyway.
