Watt closes in on first team return

Luciano Becchio and Davide Somma were reminded of how fierce competition for places is at Elland Road last night as three different strikers netted in a 6-3 reserve team thriller against Hull City.

Ross McCormack gave Simon Grayson a selection headache as he netted a hattrick whilst Billy Paynter and Arsenal striker/winger, Sanchez Watt also got their names on the scoresheet. There was also a goal for the black sheep of the Elland Road family, Andy Robinson who must feel his efforts are in vain as Grayson refuses to consider him for the first team.

Despite the 6-3 defeat, Hull City fans had some room for optimism as Irish youngster, Jamie Devitt netted a hattrick. The Tigers have been struggling in the Championship this season, largely due to a lack of goals within the first team so the Irishman’s treble could go some way to earning him a first team position at the weekend.
