I'm sorry, first of all off-topic a bit: I'd be interested to know how you got 10,000 (that's ten thousand, yes?) unique visitors in a single day, on a website with a domain registered only a couple months earlier and without much of a print in google (page rank 0, 3 inbound links, less than 300 indexed pages). 10,000 people a day don't come from direct traffic or word of mouth (as good as blog as it is - and it is a good blog by the way, so well done on it). I just find the claim unreasonable to say the least.<br><br>Secondly, if the account was terminated without much explanation it's not really fair, but hosting companies do have plenty of room to decide on such things and there must have been some basis behind it. If traffic really climbed to such high limits, it's not really traffic suited for a shared hosting account. I feel for the hassle of moving the site and losing content, but if you work with high figures you have to be ready for everything.

Cheers mate. I will be appearing on newsnow again shortly, but the switch has created a minor problem that I'm currently working to resolve. Shouldn't take long.

Cheers GOM and bogdan.

I think I've spiked their server several times before as there was a few occasions when i received the message 'ACCESS DENIED'.

I contacted them on every occasion this happened asking why it was happening and never got an answer. All they told me was that they'd changed the permissions and the problem was now resolved. Should have suspected something then I guess

Welcome back from me too...I was wondering what had happened. As others have said we enjoy your views. I rarely look at the "official" site as you might as well be reading something from Pravda its just sanitised pap. So we just scaped in on Saturday and it wasn't very inspiring was it especially if Becks is taken out of the equation. Poor old SG has his work cut out and I don't believe for one minute he is happy not to spend a single penny in the transfer market.
I hope you will still appear on News Now as this is how I first noticed your site.
Can I say hello to D&J they now who I am and don't always agree with my views about Uncle Ken but its always good to hear there views at half time.

Ah, that makes sense then, thanks for the info. :)

And yes, the decent and common sense thing for them to have done was to give a notice, but they tend to panic when a server load spikes like this. I think there's also the simple reasoning of better a client complaining for this than 100-200 about possibly all their sites being down.

Either way, good to see your blog back! Keep up the good work!

It's pretty simple. I'm featured on newsnow. The day in question, Fabian Delph was being linked with Manchester City and Everton. I posted this to the blog and it appeared in the Leeds United, Manchester City and Everton section of newsnow causing a surge of visitors. Had similar surges before after posting highlights of games and so forth. My usual visitors per day is a couple of thousand but if you have three teams fans viewing it then this will increase.

As for expecting such things, I agree I was a little silly not to be prepared, but would have expected some kind of notice beforehand. You learn from your mistakes though. All the best. MOT

I just find the claim unreasonable to say the least.

Secondly, if the account was terminated without much explanation it's not really fair, but hosting companies do have plenty of room to decide on such things and there must have been some basis behind it. If traffic really climbed to such high limits, it's not really traffic suited for a shared hosting account. I feel for the hassle of moving the site and losing content, but if you work with high figures you have to be ready for everything.
