Great article. There's a lot of good information here, though I did want to let you know something - I am running Mac OS X with the current beta of Firefox, and the look and feel of your blog is kind of quirky for me. I can read the articles, but the navigation doesn't function so good.

When the ground was built, some travellers were evicted from the land and said they'd cursed the stadium. Don Revie found this out years later and as he was notoriously superstitious, he had a gypsy come in and lift the curse.

Thanks from me too ....great article. You should be invited to write for the match day programme.Certainly more interesting than that self indulgent rubbish from White Van Man or Paint it Black. My memories go back to I think it was 1967 when I was locked out against Sunderland in an FA Cup replay. Over 57000 were counted in but more went over the walls or sat on the roof of the old Scratching Shed.I was also locked out against Huddersfield in about 1970.
Ah those were the days ...I hope I live long enough to see them again.
Thanks again

At a guess I'd say the photo was early 60's as the West Stand has been redeveloped (after the fire)

Personally ‘The Old Peacock Ground’ adds a bit more romance to the game than 'Elland Road', which sounds like it should only be tossed about in conversations between HGV drivers and their ensuing concerns about getting snarled up between in Ossett and Mirfield.
